Counselling and Organisational Psychologist | | Expertise: |
I worked at the Royal Children’s for over a decade whilst also working in my private practice. At the hospital I worked with children and families in the child sexual abuse clinic and child and adolescent mental health, thus assessing and treating issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, stress and behavioral issues. During this time I was also involved with the Eating Disorders Foundation of Victoria and Victims of Crime and Torture, hence, my private referrals were coming from these sources in addition to the hospital and GP’s. Over the past few years I have continued to receive referrals from the above services but have also moved into the area of organisational psychology thus, have been providing management coaching, organisational development, mediation, debriefing and EAP’s services to individuals and organisation's. | | Seeking New Clients: |

Clients often experience a greater sense of choice and an expansion of possibilities and horizons.
In addition to maintaining a private practice, Janusch conducts supervision for other psychotherapists and counsellors.

Registered Psychologist, Associate Professor in Addiction, Clinical Trainer, Member of the Australian Psychological Society | | Expertise: |
I have been a registered psychologist since 1992 and have had extensive experience in providing high level psychological services
for a wide range of problems including substance use, anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain, sexual health and relationship issues.
I use a therapy known as cognitive behaviour therapy (or CBT), which is the most researched psychological treatment in the world, so I know
it is effective. I was involved with the Australian Association for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (AACBT) for over 10 years, including time as
president of the Queensland and Victoria branches and the National President so I have a strong commitment to this therapy. I have seen many
clients make the changes they wanted and quickly with CBT; you should see noticeable changes within a few sessions. It is an empowering therapy
that teaches people to help themselves. I also use motivational interviewing (MI), which helps people to look at and understand their motivations
for change to help improve commitment to change. This is important because change can be hard – think about new year’s resolutions! With CBT and
MI therapy tends to be brief (generally 6-12 sessions) and effects last as long as you keep using what you have discovered through therapy.
It’s the ‘teach a person to fish’ idea. Both therapies are very collaborative and client driven. I hold a PhD in psychology and also work as Associate
Professor and researcher, so my therapy is informed by the latest possible evidence and research. I have developed a number of new treatment programs
that are now used in services across Australia.

Profession: |
Psychologist and trained Family Therapist; MAPS Member of Australian Psychological Society; Medicare Provider; BA (Hons). MEdSt. GradDipFamTher. | | Expertise: |
I have worked within a number of educational, community and health settings over the past 25 years helping people from a range of ages and ethnic backgrounds practically deal with a range of personal and relational issues that have been challenging them and adversely affecting their capacity to live in ways they would like, and experience their life as they would like.
Much of my work has been a response to people’s differing levels of depression and/or anxiety, conflict with partners and/or other family members. .
As well helping people deal with the experience of past trauma and its impact on their present day lives. I have worked a lot in the area of family violence both with perpetrators and male and female survivors. Loss, often profound, and people coping with significant change has been another themes in my work. .
Often ways of coping have created a fresh set of difficulties (eg, gambling alcohol intake, infidelity, absorption in work etc.), as well as making resolution of underlying issues more difficult. .
More recently I have been working with people with chronic health conditions helping them manage their condition as well as deal with the changes in lifestyle and relationships invariably accompanying. Related to this is helping people develop ‘good habits’ in relationship to living and functioning healthily. .
My aim is to help find workable ways of dealing with issues presented. I try to work with people to find solutions that enable them to live in the way, or more in the way that they want to (given that essentially that way will be constructive for them). I try and do this in ways that are simple and practical rather than complicated. If there is a simple solution and we can find it, the simple solution is my preference. Sometimes issues are complicated, are difficult to face and do take time to resolve. If it is to take time and to go slowly, that is the way we go. I am most interested in ‘what will work in this particular situation’.
I think of my therapeutic style as being ’client centred outcome focused’. My style is influenced by solution focussed and narrative therapies, by CBT and CBT approaches, by strategic and systemic family therapies, by early training in psychodrama, and interest in analytical psychotherapy and existential therapeutic approaches. I am trained in EMDR and EFT. .
Where conversational approaches don’t seem effective and where experience seems ‘unexplainable’ and perhaps ‘pre-verbal’ in source, I find approaches like EMDR and EFT particularly effective. .
My therapeutic approach in also influenced by my practice and study of meditation and yoga. .
